Wintry Fever

"The force that through the green fuse drives the flower
Drives my green age; that blasts the roots of trees
Is my destroyer.
And I am dumb to tell the crooked rose
My youth is bent by the same wintry fever."

Dylan Thomas

I lived a life of setting goals and now I am retired from all that. Now I have the time to reflect on all the hurry scurry of my former life. Now I can choose how I want to spend the last third of my life.
Having said that I want something for my work as an artist: visibility. So plans are taking shape. First, a classy business card. Then restarting my blog. And sending images to juried shows that might be matches for my work. Bravely signing up for IGNITE at C4 Atlanta to discover what it means to be an artist entrepreneur. Being with a community of artists.
My work will be seen but only as the river flows.

  1. good luck! It seems like a good plan. I used to make long term goals but now I find that short term goals just make more sense.

    1. One day at a time is my mantra. So short term goals are built into my plan. But my approach is not to predict what I can do but rather to put myself in the path of possibilities. It's just how I think and it seems to be working for me. I led a very stressed out life before retirement and now want a life that flows easily from one good thing to another. Both short and long term goals are embedded in my thinking. I just don't grasp them too tightly.Thank you for your good thoughts about how you move forward.

  2. Maggie, I love the clarity with which you write and create. I find comfort in the certainty of what you want and who you are. Thank you for making your work and ideas more visible. If you would like, I would love for you to join my FB group, The Daily Creative Practice. We share work and support each other.

  3. At the moment I am gathering myself to get my work out. The blog has been a revelation, a place to think out loud and write my thinking. Small bites seem to work for me. If I spread myself too thin I might lose my focus. But I will keep your FB group in mind once I am ready to take on more good ideas.

  4. Maggie, we would LOVE to have you in Ignite. Chances are, you already are an entrepreneur. Ignite just helps with the vocabulary, peer-to-peer networking and framework. Being with a community of artists is so important. It makes it all worth it!
